CII - IBT Engagement in the Area of HIV/ AIDS

From the Chief Mentor’s Desk:

It is critical to work in partnerships if we want to fight the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Multisectoral and multistakeholder partnership can help us develop effective workplace intervention programs. These could range from creating awareness on prevention, testing & treatment amongst the employees, to learning about effective best practices from other companies & countries, as also better delivery of care & treatment services.

Business associations, companies, government, civil society organisations and media, all have to work in close coordination in order to mitigate the impact of the epidemic.

The Community organizations- the NGO’s, continue to play a very key role in this work

Since civil society and other grassroot organisations work closely with the People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA), their role becomes integral in to facilitating societal mainstreaming of HIV and an appreciation of issues faced by the positive persons.

CII itself has been working closely with over 50 non-governmental organisations partners across regions to fight HIV/AIDS amongst of our member companies.

In CII’s endeavour to combat HIV/AIDS, our partner NGOs are reaching out to number of people through, street plays, pantomimes, focused workshops, conferences, and training programme on HIV/AIDS.

We acknowledge their support and partnership with sincerity and seek many more such partnerships.
