CII - IBT Engagement in the Area of HIV/ AIDS

From the Chief Mentor's Desk:

India is a 'young' country. Nearly 10 million of the youth are entering into employment market annually. This is also the most productive segment (15-49) of our industry.

Since youth are particularly vulnerable to HIV/AIDS, we cannot afford not to address this group. Whether they are private or public firms, they need to be sensitised on basic facts about HIV/AIDS and Sexually transmitted diseases (STD).

At CII, we have tried to sensitise staff across all levels from top to bottom and the feedback we have got from our employees has been tremendous. It is done regularly across regions.

We recommend that all industries, be they large or small, make sensitisation on HIV / AIDS, a part of their HR Policy. It could be made part of the induction / orientation program for the new recruits and also carried out annually for staff.

The onus is on you to take up the cause and it's for your own benefit!
