CII-IBT Engagement in the Area of HIV/ AIDS
Chief Mentor's Message:

The HIV epidemic can have a direct impact on business through its effect on the workforce. Farsighted companies have incorporated the fight against HIV / AIDS into their corporate strategy because they are convinced that there is a business case for doing so, besides contributing to the best interest of the society at large.

It is heartening to see that discussions on best practices and experience-sharing among stakeholders like corporates, government and educational institutions and NGOs are proving to have beneficial impact on the procedures implemented by them. The public - private partnership model is being used as an effective strategy in the crusade of creating awareness and meting out adequate treatment.

It is easier to understand the significance of this issue when one begins to see those affected, as individual persons, and to realize that it is every bit as disturbing as when someone you know has been afflicted by the disease.

CII urges industry to scale up their efforts on HIV/AIDS programme, an endeavour which is both within their reach and in their interest.
