From the Chief Mentor’s Desk:

It is true that HIV/AIDS is not one of the top 10 killers in our country. It is however equally true that this situation may not last long. With 5.3 million people affected, and a prevalence rate of almost 1%, it may not be long before we see the face of AIDS within our families, our colleague, our community. The AIDS virus is gnawing at the very fabric of India’s development.

HIV/AIDS is largely seen as “not my problem”’ and “the responsibility of the government”. Moreover it is perceived that deployment of large resources may be required if one was to make an effective contribution.

Have we however, thought how an individual company’s efforts can also make a huge contribution? There are examples of companies, which are manufacturing products as diverse as cosmetics and video games, providing IT services and who have used their core competency in spreading HIV/AIDS awareness.

Each company has some core expertise in providing solutions to deal with HIV/AIDS. CII looks forward to your ideas, skills and leadership in working towards this, together.
