"AIDS in the Workplace" Programme >>

CII’s “AIDS in the workplace” programme was initiated in 1996, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and 2000 CII member companies, across India, were covered in the first phase of the programme.

Since the setting up of IBT, an HIV/ AIDS code for Industry was framed, which includes development of a workplace policy for Industry and framing of workplace protocols, which are standardized on ISO 9002.

Advocacy with business is carried out through focused workshops, at CEO Forums and through large CII advocacy events.

“AIDS prepared” Corporate Township Programme

CII/ IBT have recently launched an “AIDS Preprared” Corporate Township programme with ACC - the first company which has signed up for its 11 townships.

Corporate townships in India have grown to be like a community where people live, work and socialise together. Villages and small towns grow around the township to provide services to the area. The township also attracts a significant mobile population like contract workers, truckers, etc. This provides an opportunity to reach out to the extended community in a concentrated and sustained manner.

Most large companies already have ongoing programmes in the areas of health, HIV/AIDS and rural/community development. This programme will help integrate HIV/AIDS interventions into these programmes and facilitate an expansion in the existing facilities/ initiate new programmes.

Under the programme, CII/ IBT will conduct needs assessment for companies with large townships and facilitate the integration of AIDS awareness and services in their programmes, health facilities etc.
